so close!!!

So I've been struggling with getting this car started after sitting for 20 years. Rebuilt the lift pump, cleaned out the fuel tank, pop tested the injectors, checked the glow plugs, and even swapped out the starter with a turbo diesel starter since the original spins very slow compared to new.

What I did today was clean the delivery valves out since only 2 of the 4 were supplying fuel to the hard lines. After I cleaned them out all 4 were supplying fuel properly and bled the hard lines again.

Might try a tow start tomorrow when the weather clears up.

If that thing is so hard to start, and you're getting fuel, then you've got bad compression. Have you tested that?

So close.

You may know the an answer to this. I'm trying to source the fan control knob for my 240d, but have had no luck through my usual sources, PelicanParts, AutohausAZ, or Mercedessource. I can't even find a part number through STAR Tekinfo. It only shows the push button controls.

I have, forgot to post about it. All 4 are in the low 200's which isn't the best but it could be from stuck rings or carbon buildup on the valve seats. Tow starting might help free the rings up or blow out carbon. I might have to rebuild the engine, if I do expect to see the adventure posted here

nvm , I see you have the push button unit and I'm guessing you mean the temp wheel? Those aren't available individually. I did recall you can buy a new sticker for it somewhere.

Not the push button, I have this setup. The center knob broke.

Keep us updated. I had a w115 with so much blow by that it used a quart of oil for every tank of gas. I ended up selling it, but I'm hopeful to have another 240 someday.

I might have one laying around. I'll check my spare parts bins.
